Questions and Answers With Your Physical Therapist

How long should I expect my appointment to be?

This will depend on whether it is your first appointment or not. Typically, when you come into your first appointment they will want to understand what your history is. Come prepared to give us a medical history, how you sustained your injury, what hurts, and how long you have been injured. They will work with you to come up with a treatment plan that is right for you. Your first appointment may be anywhere from 60-90 minutes.

Do you have a set amount of appointments that I should come in for?

No. Each patient and their body is different so you may have multiple appointments a week. As you learn more physical therapy exercises that you can do on your own and as your body begins healing, you will find that you need to come in for appointments less and less. Your therapist will work to empower you to have the knowledge you need to take care of your body.

What should I wear to the office?

When you come to the office, you should be as comfortable as possible, so come in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. Depending on where you need physical therapy, you may find that a tank top or t-shirt is best. Or, if you have problems with your knee, shorts may be the best way to go instead of long pants.

Should I bring anything to my first appointment?

When you come to your first appointment, it is important that you arrive early so that you can fill out any paperwork. You also want to make sure you have your insurance cards and any information from your primary care physician.
